Student teachers group learning activities

The dissertation thesis focuses on the topic of employing group teaching activities in the university education of teachers. The goal of the thesis is to provide complex understanding of group teaching activities as a teaching strategy useful for teacher's education, and to describe and analyze their current deployment in selected courses, specifically in specialization courses in respective fields of study and in pedagogy course. The research uses two main approaches. Case study was conducted to analyze, how group teaching activities are implemented in specialization courses at the Faculty of pedagogy of the Charles University in Prague. Action research was used in my own teaching of pedagogy course at the Theatre faculty of the Academy of performing arts in Prague. Results of both empirical inquiries point to the high significance of group teaching activities for the education of future teachers. They describe in detail factors influencing their employment, analyze their actual use in teaching and reflect on perspectives of all actors of the teaching process, both students and teachers, on group teaching activities.
